running while it burns
Petra Seiser Gallery, Attersee, 2021
The medium of ink aids in presenting the enlarged struggles on double nationalities and internal images of myself in front of the subject’s body itself. Exploring topics such as self-awareness and belonging, the complexity that originates from the capability of our bodies to see and be seen simultaneously provides the basis of the work. I generate that through one specific medium and random, intuitive structures, by deconstructing and re-structuring the intensive, dysmorphia, aiming for ultimate (re-)identification.
The works follow a path through several imaginative cities in Turkey. The exhibition displayed nine unique works, with the unified medium of ink on paper. The sizes of the works range from A2 up to 110 x 60 cm. The nine ink works were presented alongside and next to sculptures and installations by Brigitte Kowanz, Constantin Luser, and Peter Kozek at the Gallery Petra Seiser, in Attersee, Austria. Throughout the process, I considered the importance of talking about dysmorphia, sense-making, and the struggles of belonging through the transformative power of self-expression.
